In the Netherlands, on the banks of the IJsselmeer, we met Jorin Bijl – Managing Director of Port Adhoc Nederland, and Marieke Verhaar – Harbour Master Manager at Flevo Marina.
The two members of our team kindly answered all our questions.

Thank you Jorin and Marieke for this interview. Could you tell us a bit about your marina on the IJsselmeer?
Flevo Marina is a full-service marina located in the Dutch province of Flevoland, overlooking the IJsselmeer. As one of the marinas on the IJssel lake, the marina is a real hub: in Lelystad, boaters benefit from a strategic location and a wide range of services.
A strategically located marina on the IJssel lake
In the north of the Netherlands and on inland waters, users of Flevo Marina benefit from a central location at the heart of a fantastic sailing area:
On the IJsselmeer, the port is the perfect place to discover the historic port towns of Enkhuizen and Stavoren. But also nature reserves like De Kreupel!
Then there are the marinas on the IJsselmeer, offering boaters the chance to explore a wide range of sailing areas. The Markermeer, the IJmeer, the Gooimer, the Ketelmeer, the Frisian lakes… the choice is yours. Flevo Marina’s location is particularly popular with German boaters, who call it “the German Gateway“.
Flevo Marina’s exceptional range of services
Compared with other marinas on the IJsselmeer, Flevo Marina also stands out for its extensive range of services. For example, when a boater has a mooring contract in the marina, he or she can carry out all his or her tasks on site, without having to travel to another location.
Whether you want to carry out maintenance, repair or refit work, winter indoors or outdoors, acquire specific equipment, or even buy or sell your boat, you can do it all at the marina.
Speaking of which, what facilities and services are available at your marina on the IJssel lake?
Flevo Marina offers everything you need for boat maintenance, repairs and winter storage. The marina in Lelystad has its own shipyard, with a wide range of skills: hulls, sails, upholstery, electronics, electrics, engines, etc.
Boaters can also take advantage of the services of a renowned chandlery and broker.
In total, 32 yachting professionals work on the marina premises to put together this exceptional range of services!
For life in port, there are 4 floating toilet blocks – directly on the pontoons – all with toilets, showers and a sauna. There is also a dry toilet block and a laundry, and these services are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Finally, at Flevo Marina, boaters will also find a restaurant, floating chalets to stay in, a children’s play area and a beach in the immediate vicinity.
What is the on-site capacity, and what types of boats do you receive?
In terms of infrastructure, we have 600 large berths afloat. We can accommodate large boats and multihulls, which is something that other marinas in the region can’t offer. It’s impossible, for example, at Lelystad Haven on the Markermeer!
Flevo Marina stands out from the other marinas on the IJsselmeer thanks to the depth of its basin : we can accommodate vessels with a draught of up to 3.50 metres.
We also offer 400 indoor and outdoor dry storage spaces for short or long-term storage of boats up to 40 tonnes.
Since 29 November 2024, Flevo Marina has been part of the Port Adhoc network of marinas on the IJsselmeer.What does this mean in practical terms?
By joining the Port Adhoc group, Flevo Marina is leaving the SkipsMaritiem group, to which it has belonged since 2000. But for boaters, there’s no need to worry!
We attach a great deal of importance to the friendly, family atmosphere at Flevo Marina: it’s an advantage over other marinas in the IJsselmer, and we’re determined to preserve it.
Marieke Verhaar – the harbour master who has worked at the marina for 26 years, and Sjaak Feenstra – the harbour master and yard manager, will of course be staying on. They are the ‘faces of the marina’: they form a real family with the other members of the team, and we know that they are much appreciated by the boaters.
We are certain that our collaboration with the teams from the Group’s various European ports will also breathe new life into our marina.
All mooring contracts, of course, remain valid under the same conditions.
Finally, as a result of this acquisition, Flevo Marina boaters will now have access to the considerable advantages offered by Port Adhoc.
What are the new benefits for Flevo Marina boaters?
By joining the Port Adhoc group’s network of ports, Flevo Marina is also joining the loyalty programme dedicated to its boaters! Boat owners with an active ‘season’ or ‘annual’ mooring contract will benefit from 28 free nights each year, to be used in the other European ports in the network.
Of course, all the intra-marina advantages that already exist for permanent customers, such as the 50% discount on handling and the 10% discount on deck fittings, will be maintained.
Do you have any specific plans for the port in the months and years ahead?
Since the acquisition of the marina by the Port Adhoc group, we have begun to rebrand the port.
Secondly, although Flevo Marina is very well maintained, the sanitary facilities and wooden pontoons are ageing. Very little work has been carried out over the last twenty years! So our priority will be to put together an investment programme to renew these infrastructures, as was done at Lelystad Haven, not far from Flevo Marina. We’ll be implementing these projects to improve the quality of our welcome for all our boaters.
