Favourite ports for sailing in France

Over the last 12 months, the French ports that are members of the Port Adhoc network have enabled thousands of sailors to navigate in French waters.

When sailing in France, the English Channel, the Atlantic and the Mediterranean, our ports and marinas have been visited by motorboat owners and sailboat owners alike. In each of our facilities, visits have taken place on short and long stays, with small or larger boats.

Every French marina or yacht harbour in our network has been prized by boaters for its different sailing areas:

  • The port of Paimpol, for a stopover on Brittany’s north coast
  • The port of Soubise, for sailing in Charente-Maritime
  • Port Médoc, at Le Verdon-sur-Mer, for easy access to the Atlantic islands
  • The port of Bayonne-Anglet, to discover the Basque Country and the surrounding area
  • The port of Leucate and Port Napoléon, in Port-Saint-Louis-du-Rhône, for exploring the Mediterranean.

Boaters can also choose to park their boats in the dry (at Port Adhoc Paimpol, Port Adhoc Soubise, Port Adhoc Bayonne-Anglet, Port Leucate or Port Napoléon) or moor them afloat (at Port Médoc or Port Napoléon).

The favourite port for sailing in France

This past year, our Aquitaine marina, Port Médoc, was visited by a huge number of boaters. In fact, it was the French marina in our network with the highest number of visitors!

The success of our marina at Le Verdon-sur-Mer is due not only to its strategic location, at the mouth of the Gironde and at the gateway to the Atlantic. In fact, Port Médoc is also very popular with boaters because of the many professionals, services and shops on offer : shipyards and boat maintenance, saddlery and clothing, sailing school and club, water sports, sea walks, concept stores, bike hire, art galleries, laundrette… the activities on site have certainly played their part in achieving this record number of visits!

“The port is very welcoming. The sanitary facilities are very clean. There are restaurants and bars where you can have lunch and dinner after a sail… or just have a good time with family or friends. Careening is available for boaters. The staff are very professional. I would recommend this port.”

Dutch ports favoured by boaters

Our 7 Dutch marinas – in Flevoland, North Holland, South Holland and Zeeland – have also attracted a large number of boaters.

Port Adhoc’s extensive network of port facilities has enabled many enthusiasts to sail the inland waters of the Netherlands and, further afield, along the coasts of the Wadden Sea and the North Sea.

Each crew chose the marina in the group that best suited their plans and desires:

  • Our 3 marinas in Lelystad for sailing on the Markermeer and the IJsselmeer
  • Muiderzand marina to access to the IJmeer
  • Jachthaven Naarden to explore Lake Gooi
  • The port of Bruinisse for sailing on the Grevelingenmeer
  • The Cape Helius marina to discover the Haringvliet

Jachthaven Bruinisse, your favourite port in the Netherlands

Among the Muiderzand marina, Jachthaven Naarden, Jachthaven Bruinisse, Lelystad Haven, Deko Marina Lelystad and the Cape Helius marina, it was the Bruinisse marina that received the most visiting yachtsmen.

This is not only due to the interest shown by boaters in sailing on Lake Grevelingen: in fact, Jachthaven Bruinisse is one of the largest marinas in the Netherlands.

Sailors appreciate its high-quality facilities and comprehensive range of services, available all year round.

In Zeeland, the Bruinisse marina is also an ideal starting point for exploring the Oosterschelde.

“Superb facilities, very clean if you’re visiting by sailboat. The sanitary facilities are modern and very clean. You also have a good choice of restaurants, shops and activities.”

A popular port for Swedish yachts

Svinninge Marina has joined the Port Adhoc Group’s network of European ports over the past year.

In Sweden, just a 30-minute drive from Stockholm, Svinninge Marina can accommodate almost 2,000 boats, both afloat and dry.

Every year, and this year is no exception, it is very popular. Record numbers of visitors are always recorded in the summer, during the hottest months of the year.

The team at Svinninge Marina was delighted to offer these visiting boaters access to its facilities and services for the duration of their Swedish stay.

“There is a small shop in the marina, stocked with basic marine products. Snacks, ice creams and drinks are available. It’s an absolutely quiet marina. The harbour master is very polite and helpful. He and his staff are very courteous.”
