Destination Verdon-sur-Mer

Pointe du Médoc, a paradise for nature lovers and adventure enthusiasts

On the sea side, boaters will have the opportunity to discover the Cordouan lighthouse (5 miles), La Rochelle (60 miles) or Arcachon (70 miles). River navigation will also enable them to reach Bordeaux and discover the riches of the islands of the Estuary. On the land side, Port Médoc is located on the edge of the Pointe de Grave national forest, the starting point for many kilometres of cycle paths.

Cordouan Lighthouse

In the open sea, the Cordouan Lighthouse, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, stands on a rocky plateau surrounded by sandbanks that are exposed at low tide. Access is by boat only.

Gironde Estuary

The Gironde estuary offers a multitude of charming ports of call, including the famous Royan and the charming Meschers. Along the Charente coast, take a look at the carelets, picturesque wooden fishing huts built by traditional fishermen.

  • Le Verdon-sur-Mer

    With its two facades, one on the Gironde side, the other on the Atlantic side, this port city has historically lived from food crops, the exploitation of salt marshes and maritime activity.

  • Soulac-sur-Mer 8 km

    A choice destination, the town of Soulac-sur-Mer will delight both lovers of water sports and Belle Epoque architecture.

  • Royan 10 km

    This seaside resort located at the entrance to the Gironde Estuary is renowned for its beautiful fine sandy beaches which will delight those who love to relax.

    Between the state forest of La Courbe, the Bonne Anse bay and the beaches of the Côte Sauvage, La Palmyre offers an infinite range of possibilities. Surf enthusiasts will also find one of the region's leading surf spots.

  • Vignoble de Bordeaux 40 km

    This vineyard, internationally renowned for the prestige of its wines, is the largest AOC vineyard in France. Several establishments open their doors to the public for visits and tastings.

  • Marennes 45 km

    To the north of the town of Marennes are the oyster basins of Marennes, particularly renowned for the quality of their oysters. Not to be missed if you are in the area.

  • Lacanau 75 km

    A mecca for surfers, this seaside resort on the Atlantic coast offers long sandy beaches and a festive summer atmosphere, making it a popular holiday destination.
