Lac du Gooi, a natural gem within easy reach of the Naarden Marina
The Gooi Lake, or Gooimeer, is a Dutch lake located south of the IJ Lake, or IJmeer. Covering an area of just under 30 km², it is home to a number of towns and villages, several beaches and two artificial islands: Huizerhoef and De Schelp. It’s possible to anchor a boat near the former and approach the coastline of the latter, which is classified as a nature reserve. To the south, the Stichtse Brug separates the Gooimeer from the Eemmeer. To the north, the Hollandse Brug separates the Gooimeer from the IJmeer.
Ideally located on the lake, the Naarden marina is a good starting point for exploring the Gooimeer and surrounding waters by motorboat or sailboat.
Whatever your sailing schedule and your choice of itinerary in these calm waters, there’s no doubt that you’ll enjoy the destination. In particular, you’ll be able to admire the natural coastal landscapes and observe the migratory birds present on the lake, attracted by the wetlands and marshes of the aera.

The surroundings of the Naarden marina in the Netherlands
On land or at sea, the area around Jachthaven Naarden offers boaters a wide range of activities. From the marina, you can walk or cycle to the fortified historic center of Naarden, discover the varied nature of the Naarderbos or visit the protected Naardermeer nature reserve. A ten-minute drive will take you to the towns of Bussum and Muiden.
From the Naarden marina, you can also take a boat to more distant cruising grounds: from the Gooi lake, you can easily reach the surrounding lakes – the IJmeer, Markermeer, IJsselmeer, Eemmeer, Wolderwijd… – thus benefiting from a larger cruising area. We recommend a visit to the capital, Amsterdam, as well as to the typical villages of North Holland: Monnickendam, Volendam, Hoorn, Enkhuizen…
